How does weekly preparation work?
Weekly ACT Preparation includes 3 private 1-hour lessons per week for $270 -- a savings compared with the individual lesson rate.
What is the ACT?
The ACT is a standardized college admissions test that measures skills in English, Math, and Reading. The Science and Writing sections are optional. The ACT is scored on a 1–36 scale, and the Composite score is based on the English, Math, and Reading scores.
What is a good ACT score?
There is no single ACT score that is considered "good" for every student or college. The ACT is scored from 1–36, and the score you should aim for depends on the colleges you are considering, your academic goals, and your eligibility for scholarships or other programs. It is best to compare your score with the published ranges and requirements of the colleges you are interested in.
Is the ACT Science section required?
No. Science is currently an optional section of the ACT. It does not contribute to the Composite score. The Science section measures skills such as interpreting data, evaluating scientific information, and reasoning from evidence rather than simply testing your knowledge of science facts. Some colleges or programs may have their own requirements, so students should check the policies of the colleges they are considering.
How is the ACT scored?
The ACT Composite score is calculated by averaging your English, Math, and Reading scores and rounding to the nearest whole number. Each of these sections is scored from 1–36. If you take the optional Science section, you receive a separate Science score, but it is not included in the Composite score.
How many times can I take the ACT?
There is no limit to the number of times you can take the ACT. Students can retake the test to try to improve their scores, and ACT automatically calculates a Superscore for students who have taken the ACT more than once. Your Superscore combines your highest English, Math, and Reading scores from different test dates. However, colleges have their own policies regarding superscoring, so students should check each college's requirements.
Should I take the SAT or the ACT?
For most students, there is no universal advantage to taking the SAT instead of the ACT — or vice versa. Both tests are widely accepted by U.S. colleges, and colleges generally do not prefer one test over the other. The better choice is the test on which you perform better and feel more comfortable. We can help you choose the right fit for your learning style and goals.
